File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

The File Transfer Protocol is a widely-used standard for transmitting files via the Internet. Running the FTP service directly however, poses a security risk due to the nature of the protocol and it's popularity with attackers. The FTP proxy service protects your FTP server against attacks by blocking malicious traffic at the application level. For instance, a valid FTP command together with arbitrary code to exploit a security vulnerability will never reach your FTP server, as only the FTP command itself is forwarded. A summary of the features:

  • Securely and transparently relays FTP connections between clients and servers
  • Provides extensive auditing capable of separating user related from system triggered audit events via the PrivaNet logging facility
  • Provides support for authentication and user-based command restriction
