The SOCKS protocol implements a generic proxy for relaying TCP and UDP traffic and can be used with virtually any Internet service. It offers controlled access to a whole range of web services that would otherwise require a direct, insecure connection.
PrivaNet has built-in support for both SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 protocols, the latter allowing connections to be authenticated for additional security.
